About Glenfield

This is a busy, thriving suburb of Leicester City which developed in the early part of the 20th century and which was further extended towards the end of the same century.

At the centre of Glenfield there is a pleasing square, this is surrounded by a number of properties and shops with the dominant feature being the church dedicated to Saint Peter, built in 1876.

Visitors to Glenfield will find all the trappings of administration, with the Leicestershire Hospital, Fire & Rescue Service and County Council Headquarters being sited in the area.

Throughout Glenfield there is a number of pubs, inns, multi-cultural restaurants and take-away establishments, together with large super-stores. There is also a Greek restaurant and the more traditional English fish and chips.

One of the nice aspects of Glenfield is its close proximity to open countryside and its easy access to Groby, Ratby, and Anstey with its delightful pack-horse bridge. It also gives direct access to Leicester where visitors will find majestic Leicester cathedral and a museum recalling much to do with the history of the city and surrounding areas.
