About Moulton

Set in the heart of the famously beautiful fenlands of Lincolnshire is the pleasant town of Moulton. This little town has the distinction of one of it's treasures being featured on the BBC programme 'Restoration'. The magnificent Moulton Windmill, towers 88ft tall and is a superb 10 storey brick tower mill. It was built around 1822 by Robert King and was owned by the Biggadike family from 1924 until the family's 'grain merchant' business closed it's doors in 1995. The mill lost it's sails following storm damage in 1895, however, it was entered as a listed building in 1967. The mill is now leased to the villagers and much is being done to save this national treasure for posterity.

Another wonderful feature of Moulton is the impressive church of All Saints. This beautiful church has a late Perpendicular tower and a spire. There are canopied niches above the west window displaying figures of saints and there is some exceptionally fine work to the foilage capitals. The interior of the church contains an 18th-century font carved with figures of Adam and Eve. This is an interesting church that houses many treasures.

Moulton is a lively place to visit in any season of the year. Close by are the gardens of Springfields and a short distance away is Spalding Tropical Forest.
