About Scotton

Home to the infamous Guy Fawkes whos residence still stands at the end of the village. On bonfire night or 'Guy Fawkes' night, unlike other areas of England where an effigy of Guy is burned to mark the anniversary of the failed Gunpowder Plot, they prefer not to burn a Guy out of respect for a past relative. They do however have an impressive bonfire and fireworks display.
There is also a pub in the village called The Guy Fawkes Arms.
Walks can be had along the river Nidd, which contains a weir near the old flax mill.
