Great views of Bamburgh and the Lord Crew Arms, once owned by my family. So many happy memories here spent in my youth from around 1960s. The day we went I will never forget. We were walking back to Seahouses when suddenly two fighter jets appeared overhead. I thought they were on exercises. But when we got back to the caravan, and turned on the TV, I thought we were watching a new disaster movie. Then my husband said shocked, no, that’s not a movie it’s real and live, it’s the BBC news. That’s the day the two towers were hit by aeroplanes in the USA. We watched in horror thinking we were seeing the beginning of the 3rd world war. Actually wondering if we’d get home again to Gateshead. The fighters we saw must have been asked to protect our coastline, just in case. That was my last long walk, due to MS. And a memorable one.
