About Sally Lunns

A one minute stroll from Bath Abbey you will find the oldest house in Bath - Sally Lunn's. Sally Lunn was a young french refugee who arrived in England over 300 years ago. She began baking a rich round bread now known as the Sally Lunn Bun. The buns special lightness and flavour allowed it to be enjoyed with either sweet or savoury accompaniments and it became a very popular delicacy in Georgian England, and still is today. Many attempts worldwide have been made to copy this fantastic bun but with very little success. It has won many awards and if you visit Bath you simply must try one! There is also a museum at the house, down in the cellar which is worth a look. You can see the Roman and Medieval foundations of the house. See the original kitchen with its faggot oven, Georgian range and old baking utensils.
