About Timberscombe

The village of Timberscombe in Somerset is situated on the River Avill and takes its name from the wooded valley surrounding it. Timberscombe is situated within the Exmoor National Park, 2.5 miles south west of Dunster and 5.5 miles south of Minehead.
The population at the time of the last census, in 2001, was 476.
The village amenities include Timberscombe First School and Pre-School, a large Play Area, a thriving Village Hall, The Lion Inn, a Post Office, a Methodist Chapel and St Petrock's Anglican Church.

Timberscombe has many attractions including an Iron Age Fort, the lost village of Clicket and Cowbridge Sawmill, which has been restored as a working vintage sawmill . The village is a popular tourist area and provides ample bed and breakfast accommodation and holiday lets. The beautiful countryside makes it particularly popular with walkers, horse riders and cyclists.
Farming is an important part of its economy and the many farmsteads surrounding the village all lend to its lovely surroundings. There is a diversity of products and resources provided by parishioners who run their own businesses.
