The hairs on the stems really stand out, try to focus on one flower and get that crisp, the others will go fuzzy and soft but that adds to it,instead of getting too close try from a little further away and zoom slightly even if you use macro...I'm no expert but it seems to work for me:)

Hi Darren, if you want to do closeups, as Karen says concentrate on 1 bloom, your focus here seems to be fairly good but there is no definite subject for the eye to fall on. But the makings of a good photo are there. Maybe try getting used to the camera with more general shots, landscapes, wider pictures of your garden. But whatever you do keep on pressing that button, or I should say squeezing that button. Get out and take pictures and you will learn.

I notice that in all three pictures you have the light coming directly at your camera. Although this is definitely a tool used by photographers, I would suggest that using the light from left or right would work in your favour at this stage! The others have mentioned focus, also an important factor! Maybe try for a less is more approach at the moment. See what you can do with just one flower!
