About Stoford

Stoford is situated in the picturesque Wyle Valley lying south of Wiltshire, it is but a short trip of around 10 minutes by car from both Salisbury and Stonehenge.

The village is marked out by the River Wyle which flows beneath a rustic multi-arched bridge. The river offers scenic places to cast a rod and a wealth of river wildlife can be seen along its tree lined and reeded banks. Beyond these are water-meadows full of lazy cattle and frolicking lambs.

In the village there is a rich mixture of properties, the noted Swan Inn is a handsome building which first opened its doors as a coaching inn of Victorian times. The inn is full of charm and atmosphere, it still has many original features including old beams, but offers every modern comfort to today's weary traveller.

Visitors to the village should abandon the car and explore on foot, a short walk away is Grovely Woods, here you can find peaceful shaded picnic spots, lovely walks, and for the energetic there are excellent cycle trails.
