Temple Island, Remenham

The Etruscan-style Temple on this eyot in the Thames was originally built in the 18th century as a fishing lodge. It is now under long-term lease to the Stewards of the Henley Royal Regatta. Temple Island marks the starting point of the Regatta, which is rowed over a distance of about a mile-and-a-quarter, finishing near Henley Bridge. The white posts in the picture are the course markers.
