A pic not really seen since the mid 70's, taken in May 1974 on slide. Now scanned and brought to life this is the Highlands just outside of Dalwhinnie and the scene is where a new by-pass is to be built. Dalwhinnie is on a fairly flat area with a backdrop of the Highlands around it, it always amazed me that the new road was not to be built on the flat but in an area where the contours start to get closer together. I was only there during a preliminary survey so not sure if that was to be the final course of the road. But hey- what a scenic area to work in even if the days were long and the food in Dalwhinnie at that time was dire or too expensive for us mortals.
