Being a Canadian, we are all obsessed with weather, I was wondering what to expect for weather on our trip to the UK in April?

Well, Brenda, I am not from the UK but every time I have visited it was in April. As I recall it was always a bit cold and rainy. However, we would occasionally see a nice brisk sunny day.

Having said that, there are others on here better able to answer your question, I am sure. lol.

Have fun on your trip! Smile

Nice avatar Diana!!!! Brenda, it used to be that April was a rainy month, hence the quaint old English term, April showers. Now of course, it's 2009 so I imagine April uses the jacuzzi. I hope that explains it.

I always go to Cornwall, ( south west uk ) in April. Never had more than a small shower of rain. Maybe I have been lucky. The good news for you, is the long range weather forecast. They are forecasting the warmest summer for years this year. Lets hope they are correct.

April = showers & breezes. Over the last few years though May has been rather good for "taking the rays". July & August have not been as good overall here in the North West.

Yeah Brenda, April has it's share of the so-called 'April showers'. They often last for just a few minutes, can be light and/or heavy and therefore it might be a good idea to carry a light macintosh or umbrella. The bonus is that the sunshine is never far away.

Thank you everyone, we have booked our holiday, leave Canada on April 11th and we spend the 1st 5 days at a B & B in the Cogswolds. We are both very excited as this is our first trip to England and from what I am reading not our last. Any suggestions for the Cogswolds!!! We dont know what B & B yet although we were told to go to Morton in Marsh.

You mean the Cotswolds Brenda, and Moreton-in-the-Marsh....just a couple of typo's nothing to worry about! Both are very nice places to visit. Don't forget you can get your hotel accommodation cheaper than by going direct to the hotels, by booking securely online through www.picturesofengland.com/hotels/ which also helps to support the website.
