Hi~  I suggest you investigate the Creative Anachronism Society nearest you....for re-enactments, banquets and such....for instance, I live on the west coast of 'Canada..in British Columbia' also known as The Kingdom of An Tir, Principality of Tir Righ and Shire of False Isle...

I joined in many years ago so that my young son could become knowledgeable, and adept with medieval fighting & weaponry.. in particular, the two handed broad sword. I found a few cookbooks from those days, and truly enjoyed searching for ingredients to make saffron bread.

The Ellis Peters books and films ~"Cadfael"cover quite a lot of details of food,costume and settings...
