We used to go to Cape May and Wildwood, too, when I was a kid. And Diana, Harwichport on Cape Cod.

Fantasic safe beaches with lots going on and something for all ages. As an adult, well the Maldives take some beating for a pure beach only break but the place I returned to again and again were the langadoc region of the South of France |

The beach there is very wide and if you went for a swim on a hot day, the sea was so far out that by the time you got back to the dunes you were dry again! Not been there for a while but have many happy memories of getting brown in the dunes and just loving the place as it never got too crowded once you had gone beyond the limit for cars. Sand got in the sandwiches and the lemonade got warm. Didn't matter a bit. |
