It is a recurring scene. In trying to find that area, I read it may be between the villages of Reeth and Langthwaite. I've tried searching pictures on this site, to no avail. |

Following are two descriptions I found, one on a daleswalking page, another on a page for the series All Creatures Great and Small. "Driving out of Reeth and through Langthwaite, you can see the narrow bridge which featured in what is perhaps the most iconic scene in the tv series - the opening sequence of the series when James Herriot and Siegfried drive over the small bridge in their famous Austin car." "continue to Langthwaite less than a mile further on, to check if the Red Lion Inn is open and have a look at the stone bridge over the beck, used in the opening scenes of All Creatures Great and Small." I will use this to start our drive-around of the area, to discover the countryside.

That bridge may have been covered on the DVD, I haven't watched it for many months, so I don't exactly remember. It's available from Amazon.com.uk, and too expensive. It's worth the money, it's wonderful. There's even an interview with the real "James Herriott", which, for me, was very emotional. Hope this helps a little. Nora |

I have to admit that I ordered it back in better days...but I enjoyed it, and I'm glad I have it to pull out and watch when I'm "homesick". |
