Admiral Lord Nelson was born in Burnham Thorpe Norfolk in 1758 where his father was the vicar and also rector of neighbouring Burnham Market.On returning to the village with his wife he .lived at St. Edmunds Rectory 1787-1793.  He is depicted on the village sign of Burnham Thorpe
