About 40 years ago, as a child we visited an old church ruin that had been buried in sand. We were on the way home to Essex from a holiday in Cornwall. I now live in Australia and haven't any relatives left who would remember it but it has intrigued me as I would love to re-visit it again one day. From my childhood memory,I may be wrong, there were tall skeletons found buried in it when it was discovered, and the original floor tiles were visible. Does anyone know of this place?

Jane--do you recall roughly where you saw the ruined church? A number of churches have been lost to shifting sands, especially in Cornwall--some have been reclaimed and some left to ruin. I initially thought it might be St. Piran's Oratory near Perranporth (Cornwall), but at the time you would have seen it, the ruins were covered by a hideous concrete structure that has since been removed and the ruin re-buried in the sand for its protection. Does Connerton (Cornwall) ring a bell (no pun intended!)?

Rob, I would have been around seven or eight at the time but I seem to think it may have been in Devon or Somerset. I remember it was a walk down a sandy wide path and had lots of visitors.

I think it might be St Enodoc's at Trebetherick. I've been there and am about to upload a photo for your reference.
