Must find out more about the deffence question.

I do know that the Island was used to intern people during WWII. Conscription applied to Manx people just as it did to all the United Kingdom. There was also an airfield at Jurby used during the war. The Isle Of Man Steam Packet vessels were used at Dunkirk, my wifes grandfather being the master of one of these rather splendid ships.

That is good information, Rod. I know very little about The Isle of Man, though I did have an aquaintace from there at one time, and my husband has ancestors from there.

Great question, George. Let us know if you find out more.
