Yes, Maria, I agree.  Beautifully put.

Best of luck with the move, Rick.  Does you new home have a view of the beautiful Rockies?

Good luck Rick! .. and have fun with the packing Wink

Hi Steve, a big and belated welcome on POE. I wish you all the best with your moving. As odd as it may sound, winter is my favourite season above all in England. The countryside puts on a vaguely melancholy air and things and outlines get often indefinite. Muffled sounds and gentle colours make everything around like more discrete, as if nature was speaking in a low voice to not disturb.

London becomes magical and if you happen to pass by a seaside village, you'd think you are living in a tale.

May I ask you, if it's not too personal of course, what makes you decide to come and live in England from Australia?

Ciao Mari,

What a wonderful way you describe your feelings for winter in England; as lyrical and poetical as I have ever read. Wow.

Thanks for the welcome Maria, and I couldn't agree more with your above description.  The reason my wife and I are heading to the UK is the fact we love the country, its scenery, its history, the people and the fact that we will be so close to the continent. My wife (Michelle) has travelled extensively through the continent and I can't wait to experience all she has told me about.  I personally have always loved the UK and believe my Mother should have married a pom, scot or welshman I'm really not fussed. But seriously we have visas so we can work and we just want to experience the northern hemisphere for awhile, and at the end of the day Australia really ISN'T the lucky country that people believe.

Steve, being Welsh, I think your mam should have married a Welshman too. Did you know that some of the most beautiful girls come from the vallies?

Good luck with your move Rick. Relocating can be a chore but it's great for a good clean out!  I love the feeling once you are in your new home and everything is clean and in it's proper place!

Have never experienced that Diana - we've been in our house since 1961.  If I had to move I'd have an awful time trying to sort out all our belongings and all the memories which go them.

Steve, I'm heading to Sydney on Monday to see my grandparents who emigrated out there. What is it about Australia that you don't like?

We've only moved once since 1973, we've lived in the same house for over 32 years now, before that we lived just round the corner but that was bad enough moving after only 3 years in our first house. It's amazing how much junk you accumulate over the years.
