If you use sandisk memory cards in your camera, you can get a program called sandisk RecuePRO. I got mine free with the 2gig card. But you will need another drive to save the files to. It will even resque deleted files from a reformatted card. Dont know if that works on a refomatted hard drive but it resqued a whole lot of my photos when my hard drive crashed.
