for those non uk resident friends of ours out there, the picture above is a send-up of a past tv sit-com about war-time Britain. The characters represented a village gaurded against possible German invasion. The home-gaurd  or 'Dads army' was made up of volunteers drafted from old men and those unable to fight in the regular Army. The captain was  Mr Mainwaring and one of his old men's (Corpral Jones played by Clive Dunn) favourite catchphrases was 'Dont panic Mr Mainwaring' (Mannering) whilst doing exactly that himself lol      The successful sit-com ran for years lol.

This picture by n taylor was taken on a special day in the main street ofLaughing Haworth, north Yorkshire, the home of the Bronte's
