When America broke off from Europe, had it been a bit further eastwards, Ireland would have ended up an island off the US coast. At least it then would have been a shorter trip for those wanting to immigrate.

Oh, I don't know, Diana, I think there are a lot worse cultures that they could be "contaminated" with.  Yes, the US is definitely not Britain, but we're not so bad.
