The British NHS (National Health Service) system is paid for by paying National Insurance contributions via pay as you earn deductions from your salery. Everyone here has a moan about the NHS just like they moan about the weather but if they feel they need to see a GP or have an operation tommorow they can pay and have it done privatly as and when they want. The ones that moan are only waiting in line because they want it free, along with all the other 'freebies'. The NHS isnt second best to going private, its just that you may have to wait your turn for treatment. Conservative (Right wing) supporters want to abolish the British NHS so that they can introduce private fees and health insurance from which they will profit finacialy. Just like the greedy Bankers who recently sent the world into recession |

And as for the greedy Bankers, well are there any words to sufficiently vent our anger? I say don't pay them and if they want to walk, then let them walk, and keep on walking because the banks will run without them and still turn us over on a daily basis! Maybe another thread....Greedy Bankers, what would you do with them? Coming up... |

At the heart of it all, I htink both countries want what is best for their people, however, I know that in the states, the system works based on money and not need and that system has come to the UK. The concept is shameful but the facts are facts. I will watch this closely as I am interested in the views on this one. |

I had never heard it speak a word--keep in mind I was wee small-- and so I thought I was tone deaf...a concept that worked for maybe 1 day! Then I heard my brothers yelling and thought" THANK YOU LORD...I can hear again. Naive ? Most definitely. I was only 5! Do we need good healthcare...yes....if for no other reason than to check the hearing of 5yr olds...LOL..... |

Universal health care sounds like a beautiful thing - but it's not free." So true, Johnny. But I think most people know how expensive it will be to cover EVERYBODY, and so they're perfectly content to not have everybody covered, which costs a lot more in the long run.

I dont know the adult population of the USA but a doller a week from every adult, with the chance of winning a cash lump sum tax free cant be a bad deal if it means the sick dont have to worry about medical bills. |
