I would say, generally speaking, that is without doubt the biggest problem James.....no respect whatsoever.

plus parents are afraid to discipline them for fear of SS getting involved on the childrens behalf, I do not think I could cope wih the situation today, thank goodness we were allowed to bring the children up as we thought  fit and proper

Sadly a lot of the parents you see have no respect for anyone either, you just have to look and listen to some of them and you just know all hope is lost for the child they have with them before it even grows out of its pram (stroller for our US friends).

Yes, I agree with that statement also Ruth and Peggy they turned out okay in our house so I reckon we had the same set of rules eh?

Ah, now there is an upside to emigrating!  So far even my grandchildren are well mannered and well behaved!  Hopefully it will continue for a while at least, but, like everywhere else the discipline is getting lax  - especially in the schools because our Government have also introduced so many restrictions on what is and what is not appropriate punishment.  They are once again following in the UK's footsteps and ignoring the situation it has led to!  Typical!!
