It was mainly rubbish jobs though, very demoralising, we have a big mental health problem over here, and there really is nowhere for these people to get help, so they just wait till 3 in the morning and call us!! i feel sorry for them, but we are the wrong service for them, crisis teams etc won't come out to see them, they just don't seem bothered, so they have no choice!! |

People that make these decisions need to come out with us for a few nights, and see it from a different angle. I'm not someone that can solve these problems but i certainly see them. Trouble is, these people are persistent emergency callers, so become regulars to us, and the A&E departments, so people just get sick of seeing them, they become 'timewasters' . We also have a bit of a 'nanny' state, where people think they should phone 999 because they have cut their finger slightly, or their baby is crying!! no other signs/symptoms, oh and they were never told in hospital you have to wind babies!!! thats a real job!! it comes down to basic life skills!! basic education!!! .........phew....rant over.. |

It would definetly put things in a different perspective! And the regulars start to depend on you as well. Sad, really. I just read on the news online that a someone called 911 because they had a problem with a sandwich they got from Subway!!!!! Unreal! It's not good to have you guys spread out too thinly too..running all the calls that are not so urgent. I like your avatar...but I can't wait to see a new one! |
