As for the coins - pennies are the coins and cents is a measurement of cost, the coin for one cent is a penny. They're just about worthless now. It costs the US Mint 2.3 cents to produce each penny. A dime is 10 cents. A nickle is 5 cents. And a quarter is 25 cents. I have to concur about British money, Diana. I spent more time in the stores reading the coins at the checkout to see what they were than I did shopping. I like the colorful notes though. |

They vary in colour slightly but if you're not too good with your eyesight how do you tell the difference cos they're all the same size!? |

I will bring $1 dollar notes and tell you that they are $100 notes! Yes, that should work out nicely!! |

Lyn and Peter, all of the coins are different sizes and we have become so accustomed to them that we know instantly by the size whether it's a penny, a quarter, a dime, or a nickel. As for the dollars all being the same size and color. Believe me; you learn to look at that number in the corner which identifies the denomination! At least they all fit neatly together in your wallet! LOL! |
