I grew up on a two and a half acre of land, so we didn't need an allotment, but several of my uncles had allotments, one of them, in his late 80's goes up to his every day. He isn't able to do much, because of ill health, but all of his mates chip in and help on his plot, they share the harvest and keep each other alive with their friendships. Allotments are more than just a place to grow food, they are a place of love and friendhip too.

I dont personally have an allotment, but there's many here where I live that do. My garden is big enough to grow a few veggies on anyway,  if I was capable of growing ANYTHING except weeds that is LOL
