I think what Diana was referring to is the auto email notifications she receives whenever a thread she is watching on PoE is updated. Maybe that combined with another program that pops up a message when she has new incoming email. MSN Messenger does this, and several other programs. If you want email notifications from this site everytime there are new posts to a certain thread, visit the thread and click the link 'Watch this thread'.
