However, cloning does disturb me and not just because of the spiritual issues. It concerns me that when people start cloning their lost loved ones, be it animals or humans, what exactly are they hoping to accomplish? My fear is that they are attempting to shot circuit their own grieving process by trying to "bring back" the object of their affections. I respect your opinion but I still think that we are on a very slippery slope.

The cloned pets don't have a clue about where they came from, and they never will. I see nothing wrong with that. However, I agree that it's different with human beings. If you cloned your child, all kinds of complex problems enter the equation. What worries me about the slippery slope argument is the fact that we may block advances that could have huge benefits because we're afraid of technological misuses.

This is my point exactly. It seems to me that before we start down this road there should be safety measures in place to prevent such misuses. You know as well as I do that there are very powerful and unethical people out there who would attempt to abuse such technology. |

With a little genetic modification who knows where it could end. There was talk of cloned human body parts for spares too. Its not just SiFi anymore, it could happen. |
