Thats the point, if it comes with the computor its cheap. But you try to buy the disks seperately and they cost the earth. It can work out cheaper to buy a new computor.

We use Vista and had nothing but continuous problems with it early on, so much so that we were considering going back to XP. However, after downloading the Vista Service Pack which Microsoft released for it, all the initial problems that we were experiencing (constant crashes, freezes, programs not opening properly etc) seem to have been fixed, and for us it now runs completely problem free.
We use the Google toolbar too, and it's never caused a problem for us. Perhaps it was a bad install of the toolbar you experienced, and it may be worth trying it again?

Do you find that it is slower than XP though POE?. My wifes laptop ran almost as fast as my 3mghz desktop untill she started to install programs. Then it ran out of steam and runs like a snail now, even after cleaning all the rubbish and temp files out.

No I don't Peter. Though that may be because I upgraded the CPU, RAM and a few other major components at the same time as I installed Vista.

Peter, I had the same problem a while back.

I invested in something called Optimize 2.

Not free (costs about £15 per year) - but I've used it on the three computers I own and been amazed at how much faster they run.

My wife has a lap top. It has the dreaded Vista. I hate it. One day they may get it sorted but when? She mainly uses it for games, but even games that are vista compatible dont work properly on it.

According to a friend of mine, in the trade, Vista is so unpopular that Microsfties are looking for ways to make it look more like XP.  If you have XP there are lots of free downloads you can get that emulate parts of Vista.
