I'm still not quite sure about "Bank Holidays".  They are holidays, but do they have any kind of a theme, or are they just a day off work?

Anyway, have a great one, everybody.  Anybody have any special plans?

Thank you Ruth. Many years ago, when banks were open every day, it was decided that they should have a day off occasionaly. The bank holiday was born. Later on everyone got the bank holiday off. It has become a tradition.

Well, this is the last UK holiday until Xmas Day. No special plans  as I'm working right through until Thursday; ditto Xmas period into 2009. I'll have to check see, but it'll be May at the earliest, depending how shifts go. There's no legal entitlement to public holidays off. I have 3 days off next weekend, so will have my own Bank Hol. then in a sense.

No plans here, but it's my 2 lads (or should that read 'men'?) birthdays on Sunday, they will be 29 years young, making me feel like 109 LOL

Oops---I forgot about Easter next year. I'll amuse myelf this wekend and see how next year goes; typically I should expect to get 2 of the 8 public holidays off because they fall on my rest days. Near us this weekend is the Reading Pop Festival which certianly attracts visitors in their 1000's. Last went about 1972 as a friend wanted to see Rod Stewart headlining the bill for the weekend back then.

Bank holiday used to be a public hol. until a few years back the Gov. changed it.

Now it's just a day off for the banks.

I'm a bit like you Mick, I like to be by myself when I'm alone !  Smile
