Your totem animal Krissy? Cool! Did you choose it or do you feel it chose you?

Diana...Not sure. We have one at our pond and I am just facinated by it and when it flies overhead I stop and watch it!!  When I read about what the egret represents it really struck a note with me!!

Do you have one?

Strong

Krissy, not really, however, I did have an interesting experience with buffalo once.  Several years ago I was traveling with a friend through South Dakota when suddenly we happened upon a herd of buffalo.  It was dawn of the morning and the fog was still drifting across the plains which made it seem very magical. Anyway, I got out of the car and walked over to the herd and stepped across the wooden fence they had up to keep the animals off the road.  A female moved slightly to place herself between me and her calf but other than that all was peaceful. Suddenly, one of them looked me right in the eye and then looked away again. It was a very profound experience for me.

A week or so later when I was back home I was visiting with a friend who worked in a local book shop. I was telling her my story about my trip when a man, a Native American, whom I had not realized was in the store, came over and introduced himself. He told me that the buffalo had been sent by my grandmother who had not had the chance to say goodbye to me before she had passed away a few months prior to that trip.

The intriguing part of this story is that I had not mentioned my grandmother or her passing while telling my story that day, nor did anyone in that store (including my friend) know that my paternal grandmother was a full blooded Native American from the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. Does that give you chills or what?
