My mother didn't believe in keeping anything from my childhood.  She threw everything out or gave it away.  Even my old teddy.  So I only have memories.

With my own children, I keep allsorts of keepsakes in boxes for them.  Pictures they brought home from school, things they made etc.

They better appreciate it lol.

I wish I still had my matchbox cars, dinky toys and corgi cars. They'd be worth a mint now. Which reminds me, I did find a mint from 1962. Any takers?

I remember matchbox cars Andy. My brother and I used to play with them in the dirt in our back yard. We had so much fun. I don't have too many things from my childhood anymore. I do have a cradle that my dad made for my dolls. Being the craftsman that he is I would never part with it. And my favorite book was called "What Color Is Love" by Joan Walsh Anglund.

My first Horby 00 train set. And my Dan Dare radio walky talky station. Wish I still had those now. The only thing left from my childhood is me, I'm still a kid at heart, or is that mentaly. He he he

I canna rember the Christmas my mother bought my sister an I life sized dolls with legs that bent at the knees, they were as tall as we were!..they finally got rid of stuff like that when they moved an didn't have any place to keep it. My grandfather's house burnt down, with the basement it was four stories, but being he was during the depression years he kept everything..and it was an jungle at times to get through it.  rember one story of it alone in treddle sewing machines. As far as I know my mother's first boyfriend's heart with their intials is still under the bridge back there though. Memories...

Reminds me of Elvis' Presely's song "memories"...took your teddy..makes me want to cry for you...sob!.. everyone deserves an stuffed animal of some kind. Mine was an huge dog. I could wallow in that  dog. Mom always bought us one big gift yearly. but that dog an I got off to the right foot so as to say right away. He'd eat my mud pies, so did the reverand's boy's next door but only to be polite, but that dog of mine, he just gobbled them down, you could see it in his smile that he realy quite liked them you know...winks*

Andy..how many did you keep for an matchbox car "decorated" Christmas tree? They presented my hubby and the Scout master last night with an silver coin from England at  "Scouts", real nice..says from the island of Mann I think, I'll have to look it over a bit better...I think it was from where it they first orginated out England from. At first he told me it was an silver dollar piece...could well be.
