When I was a little girl my dad liked to make Christmas magic for us kids. He would go out and get a tree that would sit outside until Christmas eve. He would bring it in and put the lights on it but that was all. We would all have to go to bed early. When we got up in the morning and came downstairs and peeked around the corner to the living room the tree was all decorated with ornaments and tinsel and wrapped packages underneath. It was like magic. Santa's cookies would be missing. The only decorations he ever put up other than the tree was a stained glass nativity scene that he made himself. He designed it and made it. He hung it in the window with two very tall wooden candle lights that he also made. It was beautiful. My mom would bake all month. We used to take plates of cookies to all the neighbors. She made the best cookies. Date and Nut pinwheels, Black Walnut ice box cookies, butterballs, Russian tea cookies are just a few.

My mother was one of Jehovah's Witnesses so we never celebrated Christmas, Thanksgiving or even birthdays.  Consequently as an adult I go hog wild celebrating everything! LOL!

For me Thanksgiving is a great big celebration to welcome in the holiday season. I cook so much food the table nearly breaks under the weight of it!  I invite friends from far and wide to come and share the day with me.  I also put up my Christmas tree on Thanksgiving evening and the friends who are there help me to decorate. It's such great fun!  I put on Christmas carols and make cider and hot chocolate. If we have time and everybody is not too tired we will pop "A Christmas Carol" with Patrick Stewart, or "The Polar Express" into the DVR and watch it!

Krissy, have you ever seen the Chirstmas movies "A Season for Miracles" or "Borrowed Hearts"? I think you might like them (I tried to find previews but couldn't...sorry).
