He came to the night club once, just after he'd been allowed back into the country on a tax repayment deal, and was so drunk he couldn't even manage to sit on a stool on stage. My wife, who up to thewn had been a fan of his, went home and smashed every one of his records before consigning them to the bin! He later became a teacher at one of our schools, would you believe!
