I've heard of trifle but never tasted it.  I just looked it up.  This sounds like a good recipe.  Is it similar to yours (anybody)?

Trifle by Sue H.

Within the week before you make a trifle, make a sponge sandwich (Sara Lee Pound cake).

Drain a tin of madarins, set fruit and juice aside.

Get a pretty dessert bowl. Break some of the stale sponge cake into the bottom. Not too much now.

Make up some orange Jelly (Jell-O) using the juice from the mandarins and pour over the top. Put it in the fridge to set.

Top the set stuff with the mandarins.

Make up some Bird's Eye Custard (nothing else will do) cool it a littel (or it will melt the jelly) and pour over the mandarin, jelly stuff, then put it in the fridge to set.

Whip the best quality heavy whipping cream to form stiff peaks and spread over the jello, mandarin, custard stuff.

Sprinkle with hundreds and thousands (can't remember what they are called in America) and try not to eat it all.

Would you like to come over and have some Krissy?
