With an english background I was always a huge tea drinker. I had to give it up to join the Mormon Church, along with coffee, alcohol and etc. Lots happened this weekend and I was stressed. I used to drink tea as a ritual to calm myself. Always worked. Has again. Feel a little guilty.Undecided

Sounds to me like you needed it!!  How can that be bad? It's for your health and state of mind, right?  Don't feel guilty! But that is easier said than done, right?

Can I ask...why is tea not allowed?

Tea and coffee have some kind of ingredient that are not supposed to be good for you. I don't know exactly what that ingredient is. It is mostly about becoming addicted to things. It is a law in the church called The Word of Wisdom. Also about treating your body like a temple and only putting good things in it. Like a commandment. We don't always understand why it is a commandment but obey in faith anyway in order to receive the blessings promised to us. Commandment was brought to fruition by Joseph Smith the Prophet at the time. So you have to decide in your own heart if you believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.

Because of all the things happening I am struggling with it.  Still have my faith in Christ and God so I don't ever worry about that.

No, raised as a Catholic. Mother was Catholic and Father Methodist. Was family feuding over religion. My dad never went to church when we were growing up. Mom used to drag us. I have always had a very deep faith on my own. I just questioned them all when Elsie was born. I could not find a church where I felt like I was at home. Several things happened and I joined the Mormon Church in 1999. It felt right and I was at peace for awhile.

Sounds like my family!! That's what I rely on...what I've learned from other religions and just make a faith of my own.  I have a strong faith too.  But it seems a little bit of every religion make some sense to me.  Am I making sense now?! LOL!!

Yes you really are! I could not understand a lot about the catholic church. Why priests could not marry when it tells you in the bible to mate and reproduce. Also about praying to saints. That is worshiping others before God. And worshiping Mary before him too. Non of it made any sense to me. Also getting paid to be a minister. Christ was not paid to do his Father's work. No one in the Mormon church is paid. And every member in the church has responsibilities as a community to work together. It is really a very cool system. There is a lot about the church that I like, just a few things that I am struggling with.

There is just so much to learn!!!  I was raised Catholic too! and I had the same questions you have!! But that goes for every religion! Maybe that's what God or Christ want from us...to explore and learn!?
