A little background is needed to tell this one.  Until 6 July, 2006 my great aunt lived with me, therefore my life was pretty much based around Margie and her needs.  In her later years she had mild dementia so I had gotten her to the point that she would not try to cook and would wait until I got home from work.  I always left her sandwiches and snacks to hold her over.

I worked for an orthopedic surgeon.  One of our patients had been asking me out for about 6 months.  I always explained that I needed to get home.  Finally I told him, "okay, I get off at 5:00, will meet you at the restaurant, but I have to leave at 6:30 to be home by 6:45 to get Margies dinner."

The day before the date, he stopped by the office to ask for my address so he could pick me up (???).  (what part of "meet you there" didn't he understand)

Anyway, I met him a few minutes after 5:00.  This guy proceeded to spend the next hour and a half talking about his ex-wife, how badly she had treated him and how she didn't deserve "any" of the amount he was having to pay her.  I was sitting there thinking "For putting up with you for 39 years, she deserves whatever she can get".

Between yawns, I'm looking at my watch.  Finally, at 6:30 I said I had to go.  He said "why?"  I reminded him of my commitment to Margie.

You'll love this, it's a classic.  He looked at me and said "I remember what you told me but after spending some time with me, I figured you'd change your mind and stay. (You've GOT to be kidding, NOT!!)

I replied "Well, that's what you get for thinking.  You were wrong".  I laid down some money to cover the cost of my dinner and left.

That's when I decided that I don't have the time or the patience for dating.

Margie passed away in her sleep, in her room, surrounded by her things at the age of 91 on July 6, 2006.  She was a great lady full of laughter.  She spent 15 years with me, we had a lot of fun and I still miss her.

This wasn't really a date but some years ago I was on a dating site and was "approached" by a man who picked no bones about the fact that he expected his woman to be a perfect 10, physically beautiful, slender, and he expected her "to stay that way".

When I saw his picture I nearly fell off my chair laughing. According to his profile he was only 5 foot 6 inches tall, and judging by the pictures he had posted he had a beer gut peeking out between a too tight tee shirt and waist band of his jeans. He had little hair and what he did have was "strategically" combed over to try to disguise the bald spot. His teeth looked putrid and his eyes looked like they belonged to a fish.

Now I ask you (and maybe the gentlemen on this site can answer this question because I've never met a woman who understands it), why would a man who is an obvious through back from primordial history, even think he's going to catch a 10 when he is clearly a minus 5 himself?

I'll admit that looks are more important to men than they are to women, meaning, that men tend to judge a woman first by her looks and then by her character, while women tend to be more forgiving of a man's looks and judge him by his character first. But come on guys...basic hygiene, clean teeth and proper fitting clothes are a must! LOL!

This is a true story. Where I used to work as a wagon driver. For some reason another driver came out with me this particular day, as we were tootling down the road there was this blonde Lady  with next to nothing on and legs  as far as the eyes could see. So he said look at her over there, (WOW). In which I replied how can you tell she can cook from here. Is face was a picture. lol. Laughing
