Thirty-seven years ago, I gave my girlfriend of one year the bum's rush...she was a 1st-class beach and I told her so.

A week later, I went to a party and met a girl who got stood-up. We talked, danced, had a couple of drinks...it never ended.

I never say goodbye, unless forced to do so, I think the world is large enough now, I simply say, "later" these days to many, unless I see them at an funeral service and then some days I still "see" them..coming in from the "other side" as they say. You have to understand, that I understand, we all have things to learn and do...together and apart...in this world, and that's the way it is basically, incompatiblity is simply taking paths differently for future soul growth of some kind. I once pulled an tarrot card on someone that came up an death card also, we parted company, hasn' t died though,.,,rather the person be gone on one's own pursuit, then dead...never told this person I pulled an death tarrot card on them...glad I didn't...and let things work out to their own destiny.

I dated a very nice lad, he was rather keen on me but it wasn't to be, we just weren't compatible.

I told him that I was going to marry a man who shared my religious beliefs. He told me that he loved me and not my religion. I told him that my religion was me, I am one with my religion, it is a part of me.

He was a nice chap though.

I've always just been straight to the point really. I can't see any point in being any other way. The nice ones got, "Sorry, but it's a non starter, have a nice life....." The horrible ones, especialy the monster who wrecked my head and my heart 3 years ago got told......" OI! <-----------------CENSORED-------------------> and never ever set foot in Liverpool again!"

I've had my share of "cowardly" break-ups, and for this reason it's always been very important to me to end relationships as amicably as possible. As uncomfortable as it may be for the person ending it, I think it's important to say goodbye in person when ever possible.  It shows the other person that even though you've "lost that lovin' feeling" you still respect their dignity and honor them by telling them face to face.

As unpleasant as it may be I feel I owe it to the person to hear his side of things. If he gets ugly about the ending of the relationship, then I say I am sorry and get up to leave. It's not about how the other person reacts, it's about how I choose to be in relation to them.

To end a relationship via an email or a letter is not only cowardly, but it is dehumanizing to the person being dumped.

I just pointed to the door!  They got the hint.

I ended the last two realtionships I was in. I just told them point blank that it was over and they both knew I had every right to say so. It's easy for me when I know its time.

Haven't got time to stay guys - really up to my eyes but I suggested this to Ron so it would be rude not to put a post!!!

I have had some great break up moments -

The guy I was going out with before Terry threw a hunting knife at me - which narrowly missed me - when I told him I had decided it wasn't working out - I knew at that moment that I had made the right decision!!!

Years before that I went out for a drink with an ex who was determined that we should get back together. When I told him that there was no way he stood up in front of everyone in the pub and shouted awful names at me!!! He had forgotten that I was driving though - so he must have had a long walk home when I made a hasty retreat!!!

I tend to stay friends with most of my ex's though. I suppose I always tried to be too nice and tried not to hurt people's feelings which invariably turned out worse than being harsh! I even still exchange birthday and Christmas cards with the one who shouted names at me in the pub (not the knifeman though!)
