Instead of giving up something, I am thinking of "doing" something that I don't normally do, like, making eye contact and smiling at people on the train, or giving up my seat on the train, or exercising every day (maybe at the end of 40 days it'll be a habit that I can stick with!), or even trying to "catch" myself when I am having unkind thoughts about others and nipping it in the bud instead of allowing myself to dwell on it.
