A new "Gender-Neutral Language" pamphlet issued to the European Parliament has ordered a ban on the potentially offensive titles. the mandate has even ordered the phase "man-made" to be replaced with "synthetic" and "statesmen" to be called "political leaders." Also banned: Madame and Mademoiselle. Aaaaggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!! |

They try to stop us using local dialect for patients, i use the term 'mate' a lot for people, and most people like it, it friendly, informal, makes people feel at ease and makes us seem less official, and scary, but we've been told we have to call everyone sir or madam!! from experience this just annoys people, makes them feel intimidated, its even patronising to some!! some of the Stoke crews use the term 'duck' for patients, its a local thing and again puts people at ease, but again, they tried to stop it!! we still all use them though!! |

I am chairman of the local business society!" The partner tried to explain that he was Black Country born and bred and it was just a local expression but the client was having none of it! |
