This article was in the Boston Metro News this morning:

March 24, 2009 --

Some men are really tied down by marriage.

A Connecticut woman, in an effort to reconcile with her estranged husband, cuffed herself to him as he slept then added insult to injury by biting him on his arms and chest as he tried to phone cops for help, authorities said.

Helen Sun, 37, of Bridgeport, told police she wanted to have a conversation with Robert Drawbough without him leaving, police told The Associated Press.

In order to do that, Sun said, she changed the locks on their bedroom door and as he slept Monday, handcuffed herself to him.

When Drawbough realized what had occurred, he called 911 from his cell phone, police said.

Almost out of breath, he told a police dispatcher that he had woken up handcuffed to his wife and was trying to hold her down, according to a recording released by police.

Dispatchers heard Drawbough scream in pain as his wife bit him.

"Owwww!" Drawbough shouted into the phone. "Are they almost here? Oh God! I need help!"

Asked by dispatchers why his wife was attacking him, Drawbough said he divorced her following a rocky eight-year marriage.

Police have charged Sun with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and unlawful restraint.

She was released today on $400 bond after an appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court

There is alot more abuse of husbands/male partners than people realise. I have been out with men who were terribly abused by their ex's - one was stabbed in the face and had a scar and later the same woman pushed him through a window and he permanently damaged his tendon in his hand. Another was bitten hard in a private place and had to have emergency surgery. Alot of men are too embarrased to admit it.

All kidding aside, I know that you are right Stephanie (hiya btw! Smile).  I once knew a couple where he was abused. She would pick up wrenches and slug him repeatedly with it.  It was horrible! He never would report it.

Exactly, Steph. It's not until it goes as far as this that men call for help. I sometimes wonder how many women really killed their "alleged abusive" spouses in self defense or in a fit of rage...dead men tell no tales.

BTW...I don't find this funny or pathetic in the least. I find it very disturbing. Had she gone too far and killed him, would she have admitted her role as aggressor, or the victim...the latter I suspect.

...suppose she tied him down to get him to marry her the first time around? You would think an guy getting "bit" would knock her out colder then an pancake. We have way to much violence these days...both sides.

Well, I have to say, while I don't advocate violence in a relationship, I agree with you on this one Shirley. If I had been him I would had knocked her out cold.
