One day one of the girls didn't show up for work, and that afternoon, just before closing, the girls mother called to say she had been killed in a road accident. My boss put the phone down and the first words out of her mouth were "Well I guess we have to pay her mother her wage then" (or close to that). Not once did she show any sign of sadness at the loss of this young girls life. I left shortly afterwards, I could not bare to be around her. |

It caught on fire one weekend, and it brought the firemen out, and you know how they tear the place apart most the time putting out the fire, well, no one knows what happened to the owner, but several days later you could see all these bricks they hauled out of the place all stamped with the "face of the devil" on them. It was the "talk of the town" for weeks afterward. Gave me an errie feeling and then some to see all those bricks. I'm glad we don't live there. I think perhaps the devil was collecting his "due" that night maybe. |

I was so scared of him - he used to walk in my Grandad's and hit me really hard on the head and say "Hello big 'un!. I dreaded it. Then later on he fell out with our family, walked past my Dad struggling up the path on his sticks, threatened to cause trouble at my Dad's funeral. He eventually died 4 years ago and we were contacted by his family to go to his funeral. They had been banned from seeing us whilst he was alive. We went but we all thought he was going to suddenly appear from the coffin saying "What are they doing here!" |

We were reunited with my Dad's family after so many years of oppression by that man. My Mom always said he was the closest man to the devil she had ever met and she is a good Christian woman! He beat my Grandad - I was banned from going there. My sister went to see my Grandad with her young son and he said he would throw a brick though her car window if she didn't leave. I had to say my goodbyes to my Grandad in hospital - when I went there he told me that it was the last time I would ever see him because if I went to his house my uncle would beat him. He said it didn't matter - he said he knew how I felt about him and I knew how he felt about me and that was all that mattered. He was 93. I never saw him again and only found out he had died 5 weeks after he had been buried. They never told us. |
