SurprisedSurprised!!!! sorry to sound shocked bob, I can see you may need these if you are sailing off the coast of east Africa or perhaps in what we term as pirate infested waters in order to protect yourself and your boat against unlawful attack but... (I dont want to get into a PRO/Anti- gun debate) i'll just agree to disagree in the need for civil gun use or ownership, I think the 'bad guys' will just go out and get a bigger gun than you, thats all. Hope we can still be friends?

No problems here, Michael...to each his own.

The shotgun was for hunting/skeet. Haven't gone hunting for around 25 years (since I was chased by a bear, but that's a whole nuther story), haven't busted clay in around fifteen.

The handguns were for personal protection when I used to be heavily involved in numismatics. I now only fire them to maintain proficiency.

I'm not going to debate the Pro/Anti gun issues.

Cheers,

Bob

krissy, living in England its hard for us to understand the need for civil gun ownership because the only time we come into contact with anything to do with firearms is when we hear on the news that some innocent kid has been shot dead by unlawful criminal activity. firearms in this country are only owned by criminals or registered' gunclub users and certain fully trained members of our policeforce. I remember when I was about 12 years of age, a freind of mine had an air rifle which using air, fired a lead slug a few yards. he let me 'have a go' once and I shot a bird in a tree in the local wood. after that I felt terrible that I had 'shot' an inocent life away for no reason but to see if I could. I was trained on balistics and small arms whilst in the RAF, (and would have fired in anger if instructed to do so) but... anyway, lets move on.
