We buried Brenda today and as I listened to the eulogy I asked myself this eternal question.  I wonder what others here believe about the afterlife, if you believe in it at all.

I believe in the afterlife and reincarnation. I think when we pass, our soul goes to "heaven" where we are met my family and friends who have passed as well as our spirit guides.  Once there I think we are shown what our life was like, what we did right and what we did wrong and possibly made to feel the emotions we inflicted on other...the good and the bad.  This is where we learn what we need to work on in the next life.  And I think we reincanate as many times as it takes for us to "get it" and reach "nirvana?"  I also believe we go thru this cycle with our family members but each member plays a different role...say my oldest daughter was once my mother or my father was once my son.  I also very strongly believe in God and Jesus.

I could go on....Smile

I don't believe in reincarnation, but I do believe in an afterlife. I am a Christian, though not in the traditional sense. I believe that the earth is one of many planets (In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.) that God created and that life here evolved at his instigation and under his careful nurturing; but it is not the end of our journey. It is only the beginning.

I believe that there is something of God within us, call it the soul or whatever you are comfortable with, and that this part of him is always striving to make it's way back to him. The body we inhabit while sojourning upon this earth is suitable for the earth's life support system, but when the time comes to move on to one of those other "mansions" where we will continue our spiritual assent we must leave this body behind. Who knows but that we are given new, different bodies when we move on? Bodies that are suitable to the climate we find ourselves in on the next stage of our journey? The Bible (as do other holy writings) speak of more than one heaven; could these be synonymous with "the many mansions" that Christ spoke of? If so, then perhaps we will be given, use, and then discard several bodies on our journey to perfection.

I'm not sure what I believe about the details of the afterlife, other than that there is an afterlife.

I believe that "heaven" is beyond our imagining.  I believe that God is also beyond our ability to imagine.  I believe that we will be reunited with our loved one's who've passed.  And I believe that God is a God of mercy and of justice.  And if God's taking questions, the queues will be long!  lol

I'm also a Christian and soooo happy and grateful that Jesus died and rose to make eternal life possible and blissful for me.  Amazing Grace!!

heaven? I'll go if my dog can come too...  will I find my budgie "Bluebell" and what about Toby...and Beanie, and Gemma...will they like Ned? Ned likes running on the forest floor, not fussy about walking around on clouds... too fluffy.
