Does one have to be religious to have faith? Can an atheist have faith? What is your definition of faith, and how important is it to you? What are your thoughts on the subject of faith? |

For me, the source of any faith I have in anything or anybody (including myself) is rooted in faith in God. I'm a Catholic, yes, but my faith isn't in the church, or religion - they have their place as tools to help us develop faith, but God is above all that. And I think that if you are a believer, your faith is nourished by prayer.

I have faith in lots of things, i have faith that my car/camper won't let me down when i go out in it, i have faith that my instincts won't let me down while i'm at work...the list goes on, now faith in a god?? probably, but how do you define god? I think we all worship the same 'god' whether its allah, your own made up god, or a Christian god, its all the same thing, just twisted slightly to fit in with various conditions, a lot of religions were written when leaders needed to control the masses, so chapters were written in about not doing certain things, to keep people from doing them! i think the little details are irrelavent, we all really know what is good and bad, and i think as long as we stick to the 'good' we should make it through ok, that is the faith i have i think! the faith that most will be ok if we try to do the right thing and don't be selfish to much! |
