My kids like to watch the show too.  Some of the gross things he finds to eat, though, make me have to go find something else to do!  Frown

Good thing it ended up an happy story, but our main thing we teach our kids is sit down, right where your at...because it makes it easier tracking you if your not moving. They probably could of found him with his backpack still with him also..and if he had food in it and water, it would of kept him longer if they hadn't of found him so quickly. My hats off to the people whom did the rescue effort though...getting out there quickly. To many people like to use those "strips" for marking trails these days, that they can be as misleading as helpful. Most hikers take them off the bushes as they hike also unless they mark an main trail junction of some kind. We stack an certain amount of rocks beyond the trail an slight ways where we are headed sometimes. More so if there's two parties going to meet, so one knows the others travelled through the area. Old tube of red lipstick works well for intials and washes off with time also on rocks. Other ideas can include taking an heavy stick and making arrows along side the path way.Taking an wee bit of string an tying back an small branch, indians use to use sinew. But remember do it slightly " past" an path way split in the road...so it clearly defines ...YOUR route.
