Last night at 10:00PM I was out on the streets with many of my neighbors searching for a missing dog.  The dog was found safe and sound. Apparently he had gotten into some one's basement and was locked inside.

It was nice to see the neighborhood pull together to help this young woman find her lost dog. It got me to thinking about starting a Neighborhood Pet Search Committee. A group of volunteers who can be called on to organize and do a search when a pet goes missing. My head is buzzing with possibilities. We could even have people on the block "register" their pets with the committee and supply a recent picture and details about the pet so that when a pet goes missing we'll have everything we need to get a search underway.

I've never heard of such a thing but it seems like a good idea. What do you think POE members?

With enough neighbors having pets/being interested/participating, this could be a good thing; probably more effective and with better results than simply posting flyers.

NPSC? You have got to be joking Diana, I would not get out of bed to look for a dog or cat for that matter, especially as they are probably out looking for what they are unable to get during the day! After being locked in that is!! No, not for me I'm afraid.....wherever you be let your cat run free!! LOL

Huh, not sure how to take that. I can think of all sorts of answers to continue like (and if you found me?) but need to remember it's a family friendly website. LOL

Nice neighbours Diana.

It wouldn't work here where I live. I tend to mind my own bussiness. It's safer! Sealed  I always checkout any animal I see though, any strays cats etc. I've taken a few in over the last few years, until I have found their homes.
