Purely rediculous...may the doctor get back the kind of treatment  he gave...sorry..but something needs done here to remedy an trashy done surgical procedure. He sounds more like an local "butcher" then an surgeon...and a poor one at that even also. Strip his liscense to perform as an doctor. It won't be the first time I've heard of them taking an doctor's liscense away for malpractice.

I'm just not to quick to judge people, surgery is a horribly complex job, now a gall bladder removal is a routine job, but obviously still pretty complex, now the surgeon is only human, and humans make mistakes, very sharp objects next to very soft organs make slight cuts very easy, ok the aorta is probably the worst thing he could have cut, but still., probably very easy to do. I feel for the guy it happened to, it would be horrible for him, but think of the surgeon too, how many lives has he saved in the course of his career?? or had he got a bad reputation? if not he may have saved thousands. This is the trouble with any medical job, your not expected to make any mistakes (obviously due to the nature, human life!) but humans are humans, and always will, its a sad fact, i know not one human that can say 'i've never made a mistake' and that goes for all my friends who are paramedics too! we just have to hope they happen rarely.

You are correct; humans DO make mistakes. What is inexcuseable is the delay in obtaining proper care and the fact that this Airman nor his family have any recourse.

Just another military member for the government to sweep under the rug. Ruin his life and medically retire him on $800.00 a month with substandard care.

And in case you are wondering, I speak from experience; USAF Retired, 1974 - 1994
