I must admit, I did lose it a bit one day a few weeks ago. I held a shop door open for someone and they sailed through it without so much as a glance at me let alone a thanks! I felt incensed and shouted after her, "Sorry, what did you say?" She replied, "I didn't say anything" I quickly threw back, "Oh sorry, I thought you said thank you" Her face didn't suit being that shade of puce! |

I am not nor have I ever been ashamed of my manners, first I credit my parents, my Catholic education and then there is the military, suppose that it is in my blood. I raised my daughters with manners and to this day if they slip up, they get the glare/stare from Mom. I have a very low tolerance for people to be rude and disrespectful, and have to wonder how they were raised. I can give alot of examples of crappy manners, but I think that lately, the worse comes from modern technology, CELL PHONES! People are so engrossed in their conversations, that they are oblivious to their surroundings. I saw the most ironic bumper sticker the other day, "Drive Observent", the driver was using the cell phone!!! I don't care to hear others conversations, obnoxious ringtones, or end a conversation so they take a call that is apparently so important it cannot wait...so there is my soapbox, without the box! BTW, If I remember correctly that it is against the law in England to be driving while talking on the phone, hope that it still is and wish it was here.

Yes, it is against the law to talk on your phone whilst driving. In all the UK not just England. Doesn't stop some people though! Today, a driver passed me, his wife and kids were in the car with him. That didn't stop him drinking from a mug of tea/coffee/whatever though! Idiot! Edited by: Babs ' at:29th July 2009 22:09 |
