John Nettles of Midsomer fame lives in a converted barn near Stratford upon Avon.Handy for popping up the road to do a spot of Shakespeare, and indeed, a number of the actors/actresses in Midsomer have made a name for themselves in earlier years doing Shakespeare's plays.

A lotof these older 19thcentury churches that come on the market as homes, or for conversion, are former Methodist ones, along with the occasional Church of England one. 19th century former school houses are also popular for conversion too. At least with a former church, you might already have a ready-made wine celler down in the crypt. And when you start digging in your new garden, who knows what you might find ??? Smile

Hi Girls,  The home that I lived in is actually posted here on POE.  Type in search for Crantock or look for pictures posted by me.  I loved that home, the village, and more importantly the people.  There are many converted churches in Cornwall, and if given the opportunity I would live in one in a heartbeat.  There is one picture that I posted of a B & B ran by next door neighbor, Pat and Bernie, wonderful people, that became like family.  Figures crossed that I win the lottery tonight!! Off to England I will be.

That is very cool!

There is an old church here in Sandwich, MA that has been converted into a restaurant. I've never eaten there but it looks really cool.Smile

Cool pictures Jason, I like the camper ones the best, new ideas. We have an barn up the street feom us rebuilt into an house, their daughter Jamie Cofed, use to come and visit us now and then, and I know where there was an old Baptist Church for sale, I think it's been converted recently on Haley Road. I asked about that one time, if there was an grave yard behind it and they said no..it started out an meeting hall and converted over to an church ..the small parish house was next door and it was for sell as part of the deal. All it would of taken was to build an enclosed walkway from the upper balcony of the church over  to the house....you could of tied them together for one large house. We just returned from Mt. Hood, nice drive to cool off with, and they have built Governemnt camp instead of an side road "village" into an small town with the Condo's they have built and Collins Resort. Two buildings stretching maybe nearly two blocks long and 5 stories high....not to mention the two and three story condo's in the resort near by...amybe 20 units of them. Nothing quaint about it now, as I told my hubby, if people live there year around, where they go to shop for food, it's 20 miles down the road...unless you mini-market it. Having puter problems as of yet..better get going, hope your all enjoying the weekend!!!
